Ber months has just started and for most Filipinos,
it’s the start of the “Christmas Season”, the most joyful and colorful season of
the year. The start of berrrrr days as we experience cold nights even under
global warming and climate change, hear Christmas songs played over radio
stations, thru ipod’s and other audio devices, enjoy vacations, prepare for
homecoming, meet and bonds with the family, prepare and exchange gifts, carol over neighborhoods,
eat noche buena and collect all the good lucks for the next new year.
According to http://catholicism.about.com
"Christmas Season," is the period
between Thanksgiving and Christmas, roughly corresponds to Advent, the period
of preparation for the Christmas feast. Advent begins on the fourth Sunday
before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. It's meant to be a time of
preparation--of prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and repentance. In the early
centuries of the Church, it was observed by a 40-day fast, just like Lent,
which was followed by the 40 days of feasting in the Christmas season.
Curious on what day Christmas falls this
year? Below is the chart that shows what day of the week that Christmas is
celebrated from 2012 - 2016.
